Faith isn’t just believing. It’s knowing. We don’t have to be certain about everything in order to be certain in faith. Certainty of faith is certainty of and in God. It’s saying, “I know God” even when I don’t know the answer. It’s replacing our search for answers with a search for the personal God who wants a relationship with us so he can progressively reveal himself to us. Certainty of faith is replacing the “what ifs” with the “who is.” Perhaps you’re not certain about God. You believe you hold the certainties...

Emotions saturate Scripture. God is an emotional God—not in the same way we talk about an emotional woman or emotional person. But God is certainly aware of the runaway emotions we’re referring to when we put a negative spin on emotions. We can’t escape God’s presence. That means he sees and hears alongside us, including our (often messy) emotions. If we let him, God will replace those untruthful messages we’ve learned about emotions along the journey of life with the truthful messages reflecting his character, will, and commands. God didn’t mess up his design...

As women, we struggle to feel like we’re good enough because we are bombarded daily with messages that whisper, “Who you are is not okay.” We live in a world that tells us we have to look a certain way, live a certain lifestyle, have husbands who fit a certain mold, and have children that excel in every area of their lives. And rather than thrive in the life we have, we strive to create an existence that impresses others. This impossible treadmill leaves us with deep discontentment and a joyless existence. God doesn’t apologize for how He created us. And while...

Upon my entry in the world of faith, the discovery that women were considered second class citizens left me without words. However, over the course of now 30 years, God's word has confirmed just the opposite. God cannot be put in a box. Neither can His plan for His purposed women be put in a box despite centuries of attempts. For instance, the Samaritan woman was the 'first' evangelist about the arrival of the Messiah, Jesus. In Luke 24, a woman, or women, appointed by Jesus, were the 'first' messengers that Jesus was risen, as He had promised. Both situations included women...

Reflections on Surrender is an adult coloring book, filled with truth about control, ourselves, and God–messages that closely correlate with my new book, Control Girl . While you don’t have to work through the Bible study to enjoy the coloring book, we thought it might be nice to offer them as compliments to each other. God never intended you to carry the burden of trying to control everything. Though most of us would agree God is in control, we find ourselves living as if he needed a little assistance from us. Let us entice you to a different perspective. Inside these pages,...

These cards are meant to help build a bridge between what we say we believe and the way we actually live. It’s nearly impossible to stop rising panic, anxiety, or anger in the heat of the moment. We have to back up and retrain our hearts beforehand to respond correctly to the things we’d like to control. As Control Girls, we need to meditate on truths that help settle our hearts. Then, when we face situations which would ordinarily send us into a Control Girl tailspin our hearts more readily fly to the truth.
