Kimberly has a deep passion for creating spaces where people can grow in their awareness of God's presence. She loves to build retreats and workshops that facilitate spaces where we can center ourselves on the living God. This God who loves us and calls Himself a Gardner, who wants to cultivate good things in us. "Planting gardens in desolate places", Kimberly prays deeply for each retreat, trusting God for good soil where the Father, who is the Gardner, can cultivate what he would like to grow in us. In other words, we pray "not our will, but yours be done".
Kimberly is the author of "A world restored; God's story of reconciliation with humanity". She looks at the four relationships for which humanity is created: with God, with ourselves, with the rest of humanity, and with the earth. She looks not only at the relationships, but at the process of restoration for each, inside of God’s narrative story.
In 2009, Kimberly moved to South Africa with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), a large non-profit based in Cape Town. There, she served on the Executive Leadership Team, prioritizing outreach to victims of human trafficking and the gangs that controlled them, with a focus on fostering a sense of belonging and providing intervention.
In 2010, Kimberly founded Justice Acts International, a counter-human trafficking organization operating in over seven countries across five continents. Through this work, she collaborated with indigenous leaders to develop prevention and intervention tools. Kimberly’s journey has been shaped by the realization that God is already present in the darkest places of the world, and she has drawn hope from this truth.
During her time in South Africa, she also ran outreach programs and helped establish culturally relevant training and intervention strategies for victims of human trafficking. She spent years developing curricula and training programs for those working with vulnerable populations and led numerous retreats focused on rest and healing for those facing the world's harshest realities.
Kimberly met and married her German theologian husband, Oliver, through their shared work. Together, they have two wonderful children, Eve and Quinn. She eventually returned to her beautiful hometown of Portland, Oregon, where she embarked on her next chapter—leading a non-profit dedicated to supporting low-income single mothers and their children.
