“Wake up the sleeping dream inside of you and transform your aspirations into reality.” For over three decades, Evelyn Johnson-Taylor, Ph.D., has been a beacon of empowerment, encouragement, and support for women navigating challenging seasons. Leveraging the wisdom of God’s Word and her own experiences, Evelyn offers guidance through coaching, mentoring, training, public speaking, and authoring award-winning books. Her teachings based on biblical principles have been a transformative force, equipping women with the tools to embrace their God-given potential.
As an ordained minister, Evelyn co-founded the Good News Bible Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Good News Global Ministries in Wesley Chapel, Florida, alongside her late husband, Pastor Scott Taylor. She also led Women of Promise International Ministries, Inc. for fourteen years, a non-profit dedicated to providing hope and healing to women.
Her personal caregiving journey from 2008 to 2018 fueled her passion for supporting fellow caregivers. This dedication led to her role on the advisory board for the Senior Connection Center, advocating for seniors, their families, and caregivers. Evelyn’s community involvement ensures she remains connected to the needs and resources available for caregivers.
Evelyn’s impactful message has reached a wide audience through guest appearances on shows like HomeKeepers with Arthelene Rippy, Atlanta Live, podcasts, and other media platforms. She emphasizes the importance of self-care for caregivers and empowers women through her advocacy and monthly Facebook Live sessions, "Value of a Season."
Evelyn’s latest book In and Out of Seasons: Thriving in Life’s Transitions, helps people navigate difficult seasons. She continues to inspire and encourage readers, and reassures individuals that God's plan remains steadfast, even in challenging times. Her other books include Women of Promise, Seven Blessing Blockers, Identity Crisis, A Woman’s Call, See Me Hear Me Know Me, and her contribution to She Writes for Him: Black Voices of Wisdom.
Evelyn is actively involved in the writing and speaking community, serving on the Advanced Writers and Speakers steering committee and as a member of Word Weavers International. She is a sought-after speaker for conferences focused on writers, women, and caregivers.
A widow since 2018, Evelyn acknowledges God’s unwavering faithfulness throughout her life. Her academic achievements include an Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Bachelor's Degree in Women's Studies, and Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Christian Ministry. She is also a theology professor at Grace and Truth Christian University in Tampa, FL.

Nearly every writer we meet at FCWC tells us that "imposter syndrome" is a very real thing. "Who am I," they wonder, "to think that I am a writer?" We were so excited to have Mrs. Johnson-Taylor teach a workshop on this very issue. Those who attended commented on how very much they "needed that." She knows and understands her topic and is able to communicate to those who hear so that they lose that "imposter syndrome" to become all they were meant to be as writers and communicators.

Evelyn was a joy to interview. Her story was so inspiring and encouraging. She spoke straight to my heart and I know she spoke to my audience.
