In 1995, she married Jerry, who was born with cerebral palsy. Joan recently published Marriage Ability: Embracing the Richness of a Marriage Affected by Disability. It is available on Amazon. Together, Jerry and Joan co-founded Luke 14 Exchange, Inc. to mentor and coach people affected by disability and encourage their families. They also equip faith communities to engage effectively with people affected by disability.
Having served as a paid caregiver, and now as a family caregiver, there is little Joan loves more than sharing in the journey of other caregivers.
