Her brother, Glen, became a quadriplegic at the age of twenty and went on to become a successful doctor, businessman, inventor, entrepreneur, husband and father. She tells his encouraging story in the book Pushing to the Peak.
Shelly has written for Focus on the Family, is a regular contributor to Hopemommies.org and has guest blogged for numerous ministries. Shelly has a heart to encourage women to be hope-filled overcomers.
Shelly lives in Flower Mound, Texas with her husband, Jack, of 36 years and their dog. She has three daughters, two son-in-laws and two darling granddaughters.
In addition to loving her family, Shelly loves Texas, ice cream, reading, cycling, being outdoors, sunsets, hummingbirds and her dog– not necessarily in that order.

Shelly was a joy to have as a speaker. She was very articulate and her word from God was spot on for our audience. Her scripture was solid and her preparation was very apparent. We laughed and we sobered as we were touched through her presentation. We had many positive responses on our comment cards and not a single negative. I would highly recommend Shelly.

Shelly came and spoke with our group in September 2018. Her topic was "Shipwrecked Faith" and she did a great job! She was engaging and authentic, and was a perfect fit for our group which is a Christian ministry to moms of young children.

We loved having Shelly come to inspire our Austin-area ladies in October of 2018. Shelly was punctual, professional, and poised; her message was outstanding! Here are some of the comments that we received from our guests: "Thank you for the inspirational story. I needed to hear it!" "Great, fun stories. Great program." "Great speaker!" "Very wonderful positive life story." "Great reaffirmation." "Strong, solid speaker!" We look forward to hear even more real-life stories that effect real change in hearts and lives when we see Shelly again next time she is able to come round to Austin, Texas!

My brother, Glen House, MD, was a typical twenty-year-old, college student when he suffered a skiing accident that paralyzed him. But he never pitied himself, he was never angry and he never wavered in his faith. Instead, he pushed forward—with often nothing but sheer determination to sustain and motivate him—and went on to become a doctor, inventor, businessman, husband and father who now daily touches the lives of others facing physical difficulties. This is not a story of his disability; this is a story of Glen’s success-ability. Available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble...
