About Me

My name is Karen Jurgens Harrison, but I go by Karen Jurgens professionally. I am 66 years old. I am a retired high school teacher and have taught English and French all my life. I retired in 2014 and have been writing and blogging ever since. The Lord called me to minister over twenty years ago, and now is the time to fulfill that call. 

Background

I was raised in the Assembly of God denomination and saved at the age of eight. My close walk with the Lord began when I was a freshman in college and at a spiritual crossroads. I transferred to TCU where my Christian roommate influenced me, and my pastor at home prayed with me and led me back to the Lord. At that point, I became involved with the Baptist church and am currently an active member at First Baptist Dallas. As a spirit-filled believer, I also enjoy being part of full-gospel churches, such as Gateway Church. I reside in Keller, Texas, and have lived in Texas for 33 years, but I am a native Cincinnatian.

As a single most of my life, I have a lot to offer to women in my situation. I had one brief marriage of a few months at the age of 26 and another at age 30 that lasted nine years. I had Bible grounds for both divorces. I have two wonderful daughters, now grown, from the second marriage and have been a single mom since 1994. 

MInistry

My ministry to young singles aims at sexual purity and allowing God to be their matchmaker. I talk about how to navigate the dating world in today's secular culture, how to make wise choices about whom to date, and how to identify warning signs to avoid relationship pitfalls. My message is evangelical, encouraging them to commit their lives to Christ and surrender to His will and plan for their lives.

To Single Moms, I can relate from all phases of childhood since my daughters were four and seven when I divorced. I can speak about sexual child abuse signs and how to handle it properly if that happens in a family. Whatever the difficult circumstances may be, my testimony tells how God spoke to me through His Word, through prayer, and dreams to deliver me and my children through the darkest days of our lives. I can also speak about a prodigal child who left home but later returned, and how the Lord gloriously delivered her from drugs and alcohol abuse and back to Him. I teach on how to go to spiritual battle for your children through fasting and prayer, and its amazing results. I especially deal with feelings of injustice, bitterness, and unforgiveness, and I lead women to freedom in Christ.

Social Media

On social media, I have a blog called Touched by Him Ministries where I encourage people who are navigating life's trials. I have published my latest novella called A Perfect Fit that ministers to young adults about finding a Christian mate. I am currently writing the second book in the series that ministers to couples with marital problems, encouraging them to rely on the Lord to help them work things out instead of divorcing. I also write on a blog called Heartwings, a women's ministry blog on Facebook, and I currently write a weekly Bible study about the Fruit of the Spirit at Heart"wings" Ministry, a public community page on Facebook. Additionally, I edit professionally for a Christian publisher, Write Integrity Press. 

I am a new speaker, and I have had a few speaking engagements recently. Since I have always been a teacher, speaking is easy and natural, and I'm very comfortable on a stage or platform. I will work within your budget, but I also accept love offerings. It would be a pleasure to minister to your group, and I look forward to hearing from you.
