My first name is Erica Jayne, but almost everyone calls me EJ. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of Florida (MH13199) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) specializing in individual and family therapy, corporate mental health, and motivational speaking.
My journey to become a counselor began early. At a young age, I discovered that I had a strong heart for social justice (Micah 6:8); a characteristic that I can most certainly attribute to my parents. Over the years I have worked in many different community mental health and community social service and faith-based settings such as a Community Case Worker for Big Brothers Big Sisters; Case Worker for Catholic Charities in the Our Mother's House Project; under grants from the Untied Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR); with cancer patients, nurses and medical staff at Moffitt Cancer Center, using expressive art and healing; working with sexual assault and sex-slave trafficked victims to overcome severe trauma and abuse; and addiction treatment work as a former Program Director at a Drug and Alcohol Residential Treatment Program.
During my time in graduate school I interned with the Jail Diversion Program at the Public Defender's Office of the Sixth Judicial Circuit, located in Pinellas County. There I realized my strong passion for empowerment and healing. I developed my creative style of collaborating with clients, finding strength-based views of the present situation rather than the client remaining stuck in grief, pain, and trauma. This style allows me to incorporate the creative healing arts, NLP Hypnosis when appropriate and requested by the client, as well as traditional talk therapy methods.
Throughout all of my diverse experiences one major theme always seems to emerge; I want to know more about every person's story in order to better understand how to help them heal, grow, and feel more empowered in the world!
I have continued my passion to work within my field through numerous trainings in trauma, addiction, domestic violence prevention, mindfulness, NLP Hypnosis, the Creative and Healing Arts and womens’ empowerment. I work to keep myself balanced, joyful, and passionate, so that I may empower my clients to live a more fulfilling and abundant life.
Through my diverse professional experiences, I have developed a unique perspective that combines powerful healing messages, humor, knowledge, and most importantly, my faith. As a passionate and humble follower of Jesus Christ it is my greatest joy to connect with women, of all ages to celebrate our Great Commission (Matthew 28: 16-20).
I absolutely love my work and I feel blessed everyday to be in my field. I am a wife, mother, step-mother and trauma survivor. I love to bring hope, laughter, and healing to women through the healing power of Christ’s message. Let’s chat about your conference needs!
