Dr. Shauna Moore Reynolds believes that Spirituality and Psychology can go hand in hand to heal the mind, body, and spirit. Dr. Reynolds is a Psychotherapist, Professor, Clinical Supervisor, and owner of SMR Counseling Services. Dr. Reynolds holds a doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from Texas Southern University and provides psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families in crisis with a focus on anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. Dr. Reynolds’ past experience includes positions with the Texas Department of Protective Services, The District of Columbia Attorney General’s Office, The United States Attorney’s Office, and The Department of Justice.
Dr. Reynolds has received numerous awards and accolades, including recognition from The Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, The Washington D.C. Attorney General's Office, The U.S. Attorney's Office, induction into the Chi Sigma Iota counseling honor society, and she was the 2018 winner of the Maryland Counseling Association Outstanding Mental Health Professional Award and the winner of the Texas Southern University, Department of Education, Outstanding Educator Award 2020.
Dr. Reynolds has held various positions in academia, including Department Chair, Associate Professor, Director of Clinical Training, and Adjunct Professor at institutions such as The Chicago School, Johns Hopkins University, and Loyola University of Maryland. Her areas of research include anxiety, depression, crisis, trauma, post-traumatic stress, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Dr. Reynolds is a Mental Health First Aid Facilitator and Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Volunteer and continues to be a source of support and mentorship for Master's level mental health counseling interns and pre-licensed and post-licensed counselors.
Dr. Reynolds is a member of The People’s Community Baptist Church and serves in the Health, Security, and Domestic Violence Ministries. She has also served her community by sharing her own experiences with domestic violence to teach others how to recognize healthy relationships, how to recognize abuse, and resources for leaving abusive relationships. Dr. Reynolds also regularly discusses Self-Care, Superwoman Syndrome, Mind/Body/Spirit, Grief, Trauma, Crisis Intervention, Intimate Partner Violence, Healthy Relationships, and Spiritual Wellness.
Dr. Reynolds is married to Douglas, a Law Enforcement Detective who retired after 33 years. Dr. Reynolds comes from a family of counselors. Her mother was a school counselor, her father was a Counselor Educator and licensed counselor, and her daughter is also a licensed counselor and is currently working on her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision.
