I was a member of the Next Steps desk at my church in Oklahoma. We helped new church members get plugged in. Above our desk, there were small student-sized desks affixed to the wall with a sign above each one, in a stairstep design. Each step was the path we should take to get to know the church:
Follow Jesus, serve others, Join a small group, be generous, invite a friend
I have moved away from that church, but I think about those steps often. There are lessons to be learned here, not only about that church but about what we do and who we are as speakers. This talk is suitable for a retreat, workshop or themed event.
