Kali Schnieders Bio
Kali Schnieders is a popular author and inspirational speaker. All across the U.S. and Canada she has inspired hundreds of audiences with her testimony, and her touching stories of God's grace. Her work has delighted people of all faiths and denominations.
In 2001 she introduced the "Sweet Retreat"--two full days of spiritual renewal based on her book, “Truffles From Heaven” (over 35,000 copies sold!) Some readers have said, "I didn't know whether to laugh or cry." Though many people do both.
During college Kali hosted a television show and competed in beauty pageants. In 1973 she was crowned Miss Missouri-World and competed for the title, Miss World-USA, but that tiara went to Miss Arizona, Lynda Carter--a.k.a. Wonder Woman.
Kali also enjoyed a 16-year sales career and two Fortune 500 corporations nationally recognized her accomplishments.
Then she married Larry, the love of her life. She quickly journeyed into unfamiliar territory--life with a nine-year old stepdaughter, Elizabeth. Kali, the corporate superstar, did not adapt well to mainstream motherhood. Their inspirational story and co-authored book, "You're Not My Mom!...Confessions of a formerly "Wicked" Stepmom, has helped thousands of stepfamilies cope with common blending difficulties.
Then on New Year's Eve 2005, tragedy struck. Elizabeth lost a five-year battle with the deadly eating disorder, anorexia. Losing their only child turned the sweet future Kali and Larry had anticipated into a bitter promise of unending sorrow. Relying utterly upon the grace of God, they grieved deeply, intentionally, and purposefully. Acknowledging that life would never be the same, they began to reframe their situation. They determined to focus not on what was lost, but on what was left.
Rejecting despair and depression, Kali poured her pain into a purpose--speaking to other families at risk. By sharing Elizabeth's struggle, and educating people about the warning signs of eating disorders, Kali hopes to spare other families a terrible loss. Her program is called “Telling the Truth About the Lie”.
Kali lives in Dallas with her husband Larry. Contact her through her website, www.trufflesfromheaven.com.
