I love connecting with women at all kinds of events—a cozy retreat, a big conference, a church gathering, or a casual workshop. No matter the size or setting, my heart is always to help women grow closer to God and each other. And more importantly, I want to glorify God in every message and be part of the incredible work He’s already doing in your church. Most of the messages that I give are custom created. But if you want some ideas for topics, here are a few things I love to talk about.
FRIENDS: Pursuing and Developing Godly Friendships
Based on her 4 Week Bible Study, friendship is a trending topic in the Christian community. Using practical insight and wisdom from biblical friendships, personal stories, and self-reflection, Nancy will help women with insecurities, loneliness, and frustration within friendships. Women will learn how to apply the principles of Godly friendships in their own lives, how to detach from unhealthy friendships, and how to pursue the healthy, God-honoring relationships that God desires for them.
BE STILL
"Be still and know that I am God.” Easier said than done, right? The often-quoted but rarely practiced scripture in Psalm 46:10 is the theme verse for a single message or a weekend retreat.
The material from Nancy's STOP and Be Still Bible study includes six messages to choose from, all designed to build intimacy with Jesus. Choose from

Bio
Nancy Avera grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area as the youngest of six kids. Her first exposure to religion was the Mormon Church, which her mother and siblings attended regularly. From a very early age, it was clear that Nancy was given the “gift of gab” as she was always good with people and made friends quickly.
Nancy earned a degree in Advertising from San Jose State University. Shortly after graduation, she began a successful career in marketing communication and corporate training. Nancy would later receive her Master’s Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Fresno State University and go on to teach interpersonal communication and public speaking at the college level.
While in college Nancy became a follower of Christ and met her husband, Kal. The couple were married in 1992 and moved to Central California. Shortly after they wed, they began to minister as foster parents in Fresno, California. Over an 8-year period, they fostered 13 adolescent boys, one whom they adopted. In 1999, Nancy gave birth to the first of three boys Ben, Will, and KJ who were welcomed by oldest brother Michael.
As a survivor of incest, Nancy knew early in her Christian life that God would restore the painful things of her childhood and use her to encourage and teach others about God’s love and grace. She has done so at NorthPointe Community Church where the Avera family has attended for more than 20 years. The Door of Hope began in 2005 as a Bible study and support group for women who were sexually abused as children. Nancy leads women through this intensive study of God’s word that helps them overcome their past hurt and see themselves as God created them to be.
From 2008 to 2016, Nancy served alongside Pastor Mike Navarro at Celebrate Recovery teaching the international curriculum created by Saddleback Church. She also travels throughout California to share her story of God’s redemption and power, encouraging others that God never wastes a hurt and that He can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.
She is a regular speaker at women’s retreats, along with various women’s events. Nancy leads Bible studies and is an active participant in multiple prayer teams.
Nancy communicates with tremendous energy, humor, warmth, and grace. She is passionate about prayer and encouraging people in their faith journey.
