Potter's Hands

Nicole, as a Bible teacher, will take you through one of the most prominent illustrations in the Scriptures, the potter and the clay. Spending much of our time in Jeremiah 18 and pairing with Isaiah 64:8, Isaiah 29:16, Lamentations 4:2, 2 Corinthians 4:7-10, and Matthew 27, we will discover what God was truly saying to the prophet Jeremiah and to His people.

Some of the topics we will cover:

  1. God is Lord. We have to make a choice of who is sitting behind the wheel. Will we allow God to fully take control of our lives?
  2. God is our Savior. He is constantly stretching us up and out, like the potter with the clay. Will we allow God to take us through an unpleasant process to help us become the women He intends us to become, saving us from our own fate?
  3. God brings purpose. When we go through the fire, we find our purpose, just as a piece of clay is not usable until going through the kiln. Will we praise God in the midst of the fire, knowing that He turns all things into His glory?

We end with an illustration of our own as Nicole demonstrates that a broken piece of pottery still has a purpose as light shines through all of the cracks. We all hold our own cracks. Cracked jars may not have an evident purpose in the light, but bring them into the darkness, and their purpose becomes perfectly clear - to shine a light for others to see. Imperfections become perfection when God's light shines through them.

The Potter's Hands can be one message or customized for a multi-session retreat.
