Life after a divorce- Can God Heal a Damaged Legacy?
When my husband left his place as the head priest of our home, I felt his covering leave. I questioned God about the legacy being left for my teenage children, and their children. Was there going to be alegacy of the curse or the blessing over them?
I'll never forget the day the Holy Spirit led me to the scriptures in Deuteronomy chapter 28 - God's instructions as I stood in my singleness with three teenagers in the house.
~ v.1-2, If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands all these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.
~ v. 4, The fruit of your womb will be blessed.
~ v.7, The enemies who rise against you will be defeated before you. Enemies like poverty, sickness, depression, laziness, bitterness, and unforgiveness.
~ v. 8, The Lord will bless everything you put your hand to.
~ v. 9, The Lord will establish you as His Holy people.
~ v. 11-12, The storehouse of His bounty will be open to you.
~ v. 13, The Lord will make you the head and not the tail.
Your audience will learn that a family with a past can touch a God in the present - a God who can change the future. Satan wants to rob our children of their inheritance, separating them from God, his strength, and his power in their lives. I had to fight through prayer to keep my blessings, I could never get comfortable.
Divorce is a part of life - it's not your life defined.
