Broken to Beautiful, A Parable of Mosaics

Broken to Beautiful, A Parable of Mosaics

As a mosaic artist, I’ve found that this beautiful art form offers profound lessons about life and faith—lessons I share in my message. Drawing from Scripture, I focus on God’s intentional and awe-inspiring creation of each of us as unique individuals with a divine purpose. Through the metaphors found in mosaic artistry, I weave together truths from God’s Word and reflections on life’s challenges and restoration.

We all experience brokenness in life, but our hope rests in the Redeemer, Rescuer, and Master Restorer—Jesus—who is making all things new.

One key struggle many women face is the trap of comparison. It’s a battle that leaves us feeling unworthy, inadequate, irrelevant, or "less than." On the flip side, pride can creep in with thoughts like, “At least I’m not as bad as her.” Comparison steals joy, erodes genuine relationships, and ultimately stems from fear:

  • Fear of not being enough.
  • Fear of missing out or being left out.
  • Fear of being unwanted, unvalued, or insignificant.
  • Fear of rejection, humiliation, or abandonment.

The enemy uses these fears to rob us of peace, whispering lies to amplify our insecurities. But Jesus came to bring life—and life in abundance.

Through the Parable of Mosaics, I use the art of mosaics to expose these lies and reveal the truth of God’s love:

  • We are loved and chosen.
  • We belong and have a purpose.
  • We are wonderfully made, and He delights in us.
  • God is always with us, and He never wastes our brokenness. Instead, He transforms it into something new and beautiful.

Optional Creative Session: Mosaic Suncatcher Workshop

To complement the message, participants can create a mosaic suncatcher. No prior experience is needed, and all materials are provided, including pre-cut and tumbled glass to ensure safety. Hands-on guidance is available throughout the 30-minute workshop.

This creative activity provides a tangible reminder of the message: that broken pieces, in the hands of the Master, can be transformed into something radiant.
