Psalm 62: 5-6 My soul wait in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him, He only is my rock and my salvation.. My stronghold, I shall not be shaken.
Look at verse 5 "wait in silence for God only"
Hum, how hard is that... I know, tremendously hard....
Especially if it means being still in a time of chaos or conflict. I believe we all have a natural tendency to become defensive and almost instinctively want to counterattack people or the things that come against us.There have been many instances within my own family that I have had to choose to engage or sit still.
Engaging in the attack will only magnify and enhance the battle.
It gives greater power and authority to the focus of the situation which makes it harder not to be discouraged or feel spiritually broken. Learning how to be still requires us to be intentional.
