Comedy, Music& Inspiration
Born and raised in the Deep South of Mississippi, Rita Morrow grew up steeped in the traditional ways of the south: Sunday preachin', all-day singin's, and dinners-on-the-ground. It's through these happy memories etched deep within that today, in adition to her teaching, she enjoys bringing to life for audiences everywhere the fictional, spunky, southern-belle character of "Martha Marie." Truly a "character" in every sense of the word, Martha Marie is a laugh a minute as she "administers to you" through word and song. Even so, as the show's creator and portrayer, Rita firmly believes laughter is sometimes serious business. "With the anxiety and heaviness of the world constantly pressing in on us from every side, I believe pure, heavenly laughter is one of our greatest antidotes. Not only does it serve to refresh us, but often the ministry of laughter has a unique way of painlessly plowing up our hearts in order to receive some deeper seed of Truth from God's rich Word of Life."

  • A Wise Woman Builds
  • A Wise Woman Builds - is taken from Prov. 14:1 where Solomon said "A wise woman builds her house, but a foolish woman tears it down with her hands." This topic reflects a lot of my own personal testimony of going through a difficult time in my marriage for about 7 years. In it I include many of the things God taught me in how to walk out his will for my life even without the cooperation of my husband at the time. (Since then our marriage has been fully restored and my husband Paul is a strong believer in the Lord.) God taught me eternal principles for standing in the gap for others during a difficult time, and how to stay strong and steady "building" our house even when I felt alone and deserted. He is with us and gives us hope. Although my testimony deals with my marriage, the principles are true for any hardship of life.
  • The Triumphant Woman
  • The Triumphant Woman - comes from II Cor. 2:14, "Now thanks be to God who always Leads us in triumph in Christ." This talk goes deeper into the ways God leads us; How important it is that we follow (being doers of the Word); How he is wanting to tell His victorious story in our lives; and the ultimate purpose God has in mind for us as individuals as He leads --primarily, touching the lives of others for Christ. This teaching includes the importance of forgiving others in our lives as well.
  • Something Beautiful: Being Conformed to the Image of Christ
  • Something Beautiful: Being Conformed to the image of His Son - taken from Romans 8:28,29. This teaching is broken into 3 segments: Including: A close up of how we as individuals are called according to His purpose. (This portion is very lighthearted but prepares the way for deeper thoughts.) How we're instructed in II Peter 1 to "diligently add to" our faith" This is a close up look at how God wants us to grow in our faith. And finally, The purpose behind being conformed to His image - again, to touch the lives of others, and to diffuse His fragrance in every place.
  • What Good Is Laughter?
  • A personal look at my own story of how God lead me into comedy and how he puts varied gifts in each one of us, ultimately in order to glorify Him.
"Rita, laughter heals. Thanks for doctoring me today. -- [Your comedy character] Martha Marie holds up a mirror in which we recognize our own flaws from every angle, yet, miraculously, we laugh our heads off the whole time."
"As 'Martha Marie,' Rita changes into a delightful character who keeps her audience intrigued and laughing. Her presentations are clever, lighthearted and thought provoking. Laughter is like a medicine and Martha Marie dispenses it in large doses."
Speaking at our convention on opening night to members representing such ministries as Focus on the Family, and the Southern Baptist Convention, Rita was rated as one of our best speakers among convention attendees. Her Martha Marie show was also a huge hit. Rita has the ability to make people laugh, and then quiet them as she talks from her heart about the love of God. Without hesitation, I recommend Rita (aka Martha Marie) completely for whatever speaking engagement you have.
